Susannah Spellman serves as the Executive Director of the United States Unified Community Anchor Network (U.S. UCAN) program at Internet2. U.S. UCAN is focused on efforts to support the broadband needs of community anchor institutions nationwide, overseeing Internet2’s K20 Initiative and Health IT programs. U.S. UCAN also aims to explore new ways to leverage Internet2’s national research and education network for the benefit of public safety, public media, and other public institutions. Susannah has more than 20 years of experience in the telecommunications and broadband industry. Prior to joining Internet2, Susannah worked at Booz Allen Hamilton leading teams specializing in the Broadband Technology Opportunities Program (BTOP) and the Public Safety Interoperable Communications (PSIC) Grant Program. She also has worked for Deutsche Telekom’s consulting arm, developing market and product offering strategies for mobile and fiber broadband markets, at Telcordia Technologies consulting in the areas of new telecommunications business and market entry strategies, and with IBM in business development and marketing. She also currently serves on the Board of the Schools, Health, and Libraries Broadband (SHLB) Coalition, a broadband policy advocacy group focused on community anchors. Susannah holds a B.A. in Telecommunications from the Pennsylvania State University and a M.A. in International Science and Technology Policy from George Washington University.
